Hurghada Airport Security Review

In the framework of the recent Egyptian initiative to raise its airport security measures on the highest level, a two days audit of the security situation has been carried out by a German delegation of security experts in Hurghada, Sharm-el Sheikh as well as Marsa Alam.

After the crash of a Russian A321 airplane in last October the tourism sector in Egypt faced various problems, especially as Russia connected the crash with a terrorist attack by IS affiliated Islamists on Sinai Peninsula.

The recent audit in the relevant airports for the tourism areas in southern Egypt showed the ambitions the Egypt government to improve its security standards and to follow the request of several countries for additonal security measures.

The German experts therefore inspected the package of actions taken to protect German tourists and aircraft bound for Germany.
